Week 5 Photography Awesomesauce Challenge:  Starry Night Skies

I loved this weeks challenge because it was completely different than anything I had done before!  This shot was taken off of Lake Huron in Alpena, MI in 18 degree weather.  Yep, I was that crazy photographer standing out in the frigid cold over the holiday break to capture this shot!

Week 4 Photography Awesomesauce Challenge: Prism Photography

What’s a prism you ask? Its meant to refract light which can create really neat effects to your photography including rainbows! I bought this little guy for a few dollars on Amazon and then hit the trails in 30 degree Michigan weather… brr!  I found holding my camera and positioning the prism along with trying to shoot  was hard.  I would get the prism just right with a beautiful rainbow and then it would slip as I tried to take the shot.  If I redid this I would consider using a tripod and trigger.  I would also replace the short acrylic prism with a longer glass one.

Below is my best shot.  The prism is positioned on the left side of my lens and reflecting the sun and surrounding branches.

My subject was Bella, our family pet.  She is always a ton of fun to photograph especially when she is all passed out in her favorite spot!
