Meet Ms. Ayla… isn’t she gorgeous! Here she is 13 days new and just full of spirit! Her fun and loving parents, Steve and Ann, are close friends of mine who let me capture her beauty behind the lens. They even let me be part of her birth story which can be seen here. Some of my favorites from the story below are of big brother Kiahn holding his kid sister… and of mommy (I can see where Ayla gets her looks)!

Kelsey + Evan… a genuine, blissful and loving couple! They were one of those couples that you just wanted to be around because they brought with them this fun and contagious bubble! I loved getting to know them throughout their wedding journey; engagement pictures in snowy Grand Haven to planning gatherings at Hopcat!
They were married on July 27, 2013 at Cascade Christian Church, in Cascade, Michigan surrounded by their supportive family and bridal party. The festivities continued as they danced the night away at the Hilton in Grand Rapids. I knew it was going to be an eventful evening when the bridal party strolled in on luggage carriers…
A special thanks to the families of Kelsey + Evan for choosing me as their photographer. I was delighted to be by Kelsey’s side and experience every moment with her. Thank you to Amanda Armitage from Distinct Expressions who assisted me throughout the day. She was great to work with and I was thankful to have her as my second shooter.
Their wedding story fills me with joy and puts a huge smile on my face. Congratulations to Kelsey + Evan!

A few weeks ago I saw a request on Facebook for a birth photographer from my friends Steve + Ann. You can imagine my excitement when they chose me to be there for the journey!
This was my first time ever seeing a birth, at least one that I remember (may have been in a delivery room when I was younger) so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I did know that there was one thing I couldn’t do… faint! I think the little prayer I said to my brother on the way to the hospital helped because all I could think about during the delivery was, “what an unbelievable event I am witnessing”… Being there, with Steve + Ann as they welcomed new life into this world was like an outer body experience where the world froze and everything seemed to make so much sense!
Thank you Steve + Ann for having me share in this amazing experience with you. I will never forget it!
Baby Ayla was born on 8/2/13 at 8:02am, 8lbs. 4oz. and 22” long.
Special thanks to the staff at Metro Health Hospital and to Dr. Steven Lown who allowed me in the Operating Room and Nursery. A huge thanks to the Yarnal family for making me a part of such a special day.

I heart maternity shoots… Something surreal about being a part of something so big! Eric and Molly are close friends of mine and so capturing them behind the camera was was extra special and loads of fun! Plus, they have the most adorable son named Connor who is such a charmer and loved being behind the camera. He is going to make the perfect big brother!
Ms. Baby Smead is due to join this world on September 7.

Brother and sister duos are really special to me. In case you didn’t know, I lost my only sibling last August. He was like a dad to me (even walked me down the aisle). I think of him every day and feel close to him when I’m shooting… like he is leading the way. So when I received the phone call to take Anna and Brian’s pictures as a surprise birthday gift for their mom, you can imagine my excitement…
